A Peer-2-Peer support mission took place Mar 29 – Apr 08, 2019 to support the HC and HCTs response efforts. The Peer-2-Peer Director and Team leader lead the mission team comprised of senior representatives from OCHA, ICVA, UNICEF, IOM and UNHCR.
The unpredictable security situation combined with the severe drought in 2018, have prompted 6.3 million people to require some form of humanitarian and protection assistance – almost double the number of people in need last year, newly displacing more than 550,000 civilians and pushing 3.6 million into emergency levels of food insecurity. As emergency needs are rising, chronic vulnerabilities such as poverty, food insecurity, and unemployment are also increasing.
